Polymarket taker tiers (2026): a seven-rung ladder — Bronze (3%) up to Obsidian (50%) — that pays aggressive traders back a share of their own taker fees every day. Your rung is set by your Weighted Volume (wV) over the last 30 days, and each new tier pays a one-time level-up bonus.
Polymarket’s taker tiers are the exchange’s loyalty program for aggressive traders. The more taker volume you do, the higher you climb, and the bigger the rebate you earn on every trade from that point on. This guide breaks down the full tier ladder, how Weighted Volume actually works, and — just as importantly — whether the tiers are worth chasing.
The Taker Tier Ladder (2026)
| Tier | Name | 30-day wV needed | Rebate | Level-up bonus |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | None | Under $2,000 | 0% | — |
| 1 | Bronze | $2,000 | 3% | $10 |
| 2 | Silver | $20,000 | 8% | $50 |
| 3 | Gold | $200,000 | 18% | $250 |
| 4 | Platinum | $1,000,000 | 32% | $1,500 |
| 5 | Diamond | $4,000,000 | 44% | $7,500 |
| 6 | Obsidian | $10,000,000+ | 50% | $25,000 |
The rebate is a percentage of your taker fees returned to you — not of your total trade value. At Silver, you get 8% of every taker fee back. At Obsidian, half of it.
How Taker Tiers Work: Weighted Volume
Your tier isn’t set by raw dollar volume — it’s set by Weighted Volume (wV), which adjusts every taker trade for how much upside it carries and which market category it’s in.
The formula:
wV = Trade Size × (1 − Entry Price) × Category Weight × Bonuses
- Trade Size is how much you put into the trade (shares × the price you paid), in dollars.
- (1 − Entry Price) is the upside per share. A share bought at 40¢ can win 60¢, so its upside is 0.60.
- Category Weight is set per category (below).
- Bonuses are extra multipliers Polymarket may run on certain categories or events.
Example: a normal taker trade
You buy 1,000 shares of a Politics market at 40¢, and the order fills right away:
- Trade Size = 1,000 × $0.40 = $400
- Upside per share = 1 − 0.40 = 0.60
- Category Weight for Politics = 1.3
- Weighted Volume = 400 × 0.60 × 1.3 = $312 wV
Example: why price matters
Two $50 trades, both in Crypto (weight 2.3):
- At 50¢: 50 × 0.50 × 2.3 = $57.50 wV
- At 5¢: 50 × 0.95 × 2.3 = $109.25 wV
The same $50 in size earns nearly twice the wV when you buy a cheap, high-upside share. Your wV from every taker trade adds up over a rolling 30 days to set your tier.
Category Weights
| Category | Weight |
|---|---|
| Sports | 1.0 |
| Politics, Finance, Mentions, Tech | 1.3 |
| Economics, Culture, Weather, Other | 1.7 |
| Crypto | 2.3 |
| Geopolitics | 0 (free to trade, earns no wV) |
Crypto carries the highest weight because it has the highest taker fee rate (0.07). Geopolitics and world-event markets are fee-free, so they earn no wV and no rebate.
Rebates & Payouts
- Your tier is recalculated daily based on your last 30 days of wV; changes take effect at the next daily update.
- Your rebate applies to trades from the moment you reach a tier, going forward — there’s no backfill on earlier trades.
- Rebates are paid daily at midnight UTC in pUSD, straight to your account, with a $1 minimum accrued before a payout is issued.
- You can watch rebates accrue live as you trade, the same way referral earnings work.
Level-Up Bonuses
The first time you reach each new tier, you get a one-time pUSD bonus on top of your normal rebates:
| Tier | Bonus |
|---|---|
| Bronze | $10 |
| Silver | $50 |
| Gold | $250 |
| Platinum | $1,500 |
| Diamond | $7,500 |
| Obsidian | $25,000 |
Climb from Silver to Gold and you get $250 added to your account, on top of the higher 18% rebate going forward.
From the floor. I’m on Silver (8%) right now, and I mostly make — my resting limit orders do the work, so taker volume isn’t my main activity. I still pick up a few dollars in taker rebates most days, which is nice, but it’s a rounding error next to the maker rebates I earn for providing liquidity. For a maker like me, the taker tiers are a small bonus, not a strategy.
Are Polymarket Taker Tiers Worth Chasing?
The honest answer depends entirely on how you trade.
- If you’re a taker (market orders, or limit orders that cross the spread and fill instantly), the tiers are effectively a volume discount. At Gold and above, 18–50% of your taker fee comes back — which materially cuts your cost of trading. If you already trade aggressively, let that volume build toward a higher tier rather than leaving the rebate on the table.
- If you’re a maker (you post resting limit orders and wait to be filled), the taker tiers barely matter. You pay zero fees on maker fills, so there’s no fee to rebate — and maker fills don’t earn wV. Your rewards come from the Maker Rebates Program and Liquidity Rewards instead.
There’s also a hidden cost to chasing tiers: you only earn wV on taker trades, and taker trades are where you pay the fee in the first place. Deliberately taking more taker trades just to climb a tier means paying more fees now for a bigger rebate later. That math only works if the rebate you unlock more than offsets the extra fees — which is generally only true at higher tiers, or when you were going to take those trades anyway.
From the floor. The tier ladder is rewarding, but it’s not free money — the rebate is a refund on a fee you already paid. If you’re a maker, don’t twist your trading style into taker orders just to farm wV; you’ll give up the zero-fee maker edge to earn back a fraction of a fee you wouldn’t have paid. Trade the way that’s already profitable, and treat the taker rebate as a discount that happens along the way.
What Doesn’t Count
- Only taker trades earn wV and count toward your tier. Maker fills (resting limit orders that add liquidity) do not — they’re rewarded separately through the Maker Rebates Program.
- Geopolitical and world-event markets are free to trade and earn no wV and no rebate.
- Third-party integrations using omnibus wallets are not eligible for the Taker Rebate Program.
- If your 30-day wV drops below your tier’s threshold, your tier moves down after a short grace period.
Rebate rates, tier thresholds, category weights, level-up bonuses, and any bonus multipliers are all set by Polymarket and can change without notice. Polymarket may also adjust or remove rebates and tier status for activity that breaks its Terms of Service — including wash trading, self-matching, and other inauthentic trading.
